After-hours care — what to do right now

After-hours decision guide — three urgency categories. Emergency: call 911 — life-threatening symptoms including chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke signs (face droop, slurred speech, one-sided weakness), severe bleeding, severe allergic reaction, sudden severe headache. After-hours question: call (931) 245-0604 — concerns that cannot wait until morning, including worsening pain you are being treated for, medication side effect, fever with a chronic illness, worry about a recent procedure. Routine: call your clinic — things that can wait for business hours, including prescription refills, scheduling, billing, paperwork, general advice. Established CovenantCare patients only for the on-call line; 24-hour provider coverage.

If this is a medical emergency, call 911 immediately.

When to use the after-hours line

For non-emergency questions about an existing condition outside of office hours, established CovenantCare patients can reach our on-call provider at (931) 245-0604. We have a provider on-call 24 hours a day. The on-call line is for clinical questions that should not wait until the next business day — not for new appointments, refill requests, or routine matters.

When to wait until office hours

Many concerns can wait. If your question is not urgent — refills, scheduling, billing, paperwork, or general advice — please call your clinic during business hours.

The patient portal is open 24/7

Routine messages, refill requests, and non-urgent questions can also be sent through the patient portal any time, day or night. Our team checks portal messages every business day and typically responds within 24 to 48 hours. The portal is the easiest way to reach us when:

  • You don’t need an answer tonight
  • You’d rather have your question and our reply in writing for your records
  • You’re sending a request like a refill, a form, or a referral question

For anything that genuinely can’t wait until morning, use the on-call line above. For anything life-threatening, call 911.

When to go elsewhere

If you are having chest pain, trouble breathing, signs of a stroke, severe bleeding, or any other life-threatening symptom, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room — do not wait for our on-call provider to call you back.

For urgent but non-emergency needs (a sprain, a fever that will not break, a cut that needs stitches), an urgent-care clinic may be the fastest option. Several urgent-care clinics serve the Clarksville and Dover area. Call ahead to confirm hours.
